SWOT Analysis

SWOT Analysis is a structured  planning method used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats involved in a project or in a business venture. A SWOT analysis can be carried out for a product, place, industry or person.

To carry out a SWOT analysis is extremely simple; in fact a SWOT analysis’s simplicity is its own strength in itself. In true Lean tradition the areas where concerns are identified, the expectation is that something will be about them.

There may be factors that you in reality cannot resolve, while this is an issue in itself, understanding and knowing what you can and cannot do and the parameters you can work to is always an advantage. Not knowing and working in the dark is unacceptable particularly if you do not have to work in the dark.

A simple SWOT activity can support awareness.

In SWOT, as with all of the other various Lean Sigma “soft” tools, the speed of which analysis can be made is often its very strength. The can be carried out almost any time and anywhere, they can be started and revisited.
