5S relates to Workplace Organisation

5S is a systematic and methodical approach which allows teams to:

  • encourages a sense of ownership, involvement & responsibility for employees;
  • foundation to build in continous improvement;
  • improve safety;
  • is a key driver for Kaizen;
  • reduces waste;
  • improves productivity, quality & moral; which 
  • leads in helping to achieve high impact results.

Sort (Seiri) is about eliminating all tools, parts, items and pieces of equipment that are largely unnecessary to daily operations in the area. It is about defining what the actual purpose of the work area is, going through the workplace and physically itemising each item and piece of equipment, using data and facts if need be and identify what is actually required in the area.
